Sew Mama Sew, New Free Pattern and a Giveaway!!?!

ETA: This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Mahlicadesigns! Thank you to everyone for playing and sharing all of your pet stories with us!

*********************************

We have big news today… we are thrilled to announce that we are now a Sew Mama Sew contributor!!! We can officially check another thing off our sewing bucket list!

Sew Mama Sew is an amazing community of sewers who offer free patterns, tutorials and expertise to other sewers everyday. It’s an absolute treasure trove of content and we always love seeing what their contributors come up with.

So far, our free patterns have all been focused on one of the great loves of our lives – wine. But we didn’t want you to get the impression that all we do is drink and sew. Sometimes we drink and sew with our beloved pets by our side. So our next free pattern was designed with the furry loves of our lives in mind.

Hop on over to Sew Mama Sew to read about and download our next free pattern, the Dreaming Away pet bed!

And because we’re in such a celebratory mood, we decided to host a giveaway. Actually, we decided to host TWO giveaways, which means you have TWO ways to win!

  1. You can enter right here on the blog by leaving us a comment about your favorite pet, past, present or future. We would love to hear more about the furry, scaly or feathery loves of your lives.
  2. You can go to our Instagram feed and follow the directions on our giveaway post.

We will choose one winner from each contest, so feel free to enter both. You can win one of two beautiful fat quarter bundles – one Morning Walk by Leah Duncan for Art Gallery Fabrics and one Brambleberry Ridge by Violet Craft for Michael Miller Fabrics – purchased at our favorite local quilt shop, Quilting Adventures.

SewMamaSewGiveaway

The giveaway will be open until 6pm EST on Sunday, August 16, and we’ll contact the winners (chosen by random.org) that evening. Good luck!

  2. Our dog, Snickers, goes to the office with us every day. He’s is a big, outgoing & lovable lug, & he’s a favorite of our clients, too. It’s now gotten to the point that clients ask for him before they ask for me. He’s well mannered (mostly) & loves the attention he gets, so it’s a pleasure to have him hang out with us all day.

  3. We have two Westies who are such characters, one is diabetic although she is only 7 yrs old. They give us such pleasure and are a joy to have, dont know what we will do when they go…

  4. I loved my little bird that flew around our house growing up, Ruffles. Now, I live with 2 cats, that have me by the heartstrings, so of course, I leave the birds to someone else now =)

  5. I’ve always had big dogs; Labs and golden retrievers. If you live on an airpark, you should NOT name your dog, Rocket, as that just promotes taking off.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. My favorite pet was the German Shepherd dog we got when our children were young. this dog was big, patient and gentle with children, friendly with women, and rather aloof with men. Our neighbor was rather concerned about us having such a big dog (when he was still a puppy) until the time a prowler came into her yard again. she had called the police the first few times, but the prowler left before the cops arrived. The puppy asked to go out in the middle of the night so we let him out; he had a spot in the back yard to go to. The next day our neighbor came by and thanked us: our puppy had leaped the fence, torn the pants of the prowler and come home again. The prowler never returned.

  7. Glad to discover you thru sew mama sew! Love your patterns and can’t wait to order. My favourite pets are my two awesomest cats, one of whom thinks she is a dog….. sitting up to beg for treats AND to watch only certain tv shows (in the way of course) AND loves to come in the shower with me (yes, in the water)….. how can you not love that!

  8. So delighted to discover your site from SewMamaSew – Love your bag patterns! I was blessed to have 2 sweet and mischievous miniature pinschers for nearly 16 years. They were fun and crazy and truly a delight! Thanks for your great giveaway!

  9. Pookie was the greatest Siamese cat ever! As a kitten, she would curl up in my lap and suck the end of her tail. She lived to be 18 years old!!

  10. My kids are starting to leave home to start their own lives so I got a goldendoodle puppy last year. Her name is Luna and I LOVE her. My daughter accuses me of liking her more than them – well she doesn’t talk back as much!!! There were times over the last year when I questioned my sanity – really – getting up at 3 am to let her out – YIKES – but I wouldn’t trade her for the world.

  11. We have always had a dog and /or cats. Right now we have our sweet little Samson who we got from the shelter nearly 7 years ago. He is my constant companion and I love him dearly. We also have two rescue cats.

    • Sounds like a fun, full house! Courtney has one dog and one cat right now. They act like they don’t care about each other at all but she often catches them napping in the sun together 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  12. Many pets have walked across my heart but the one I cherish is my little Siamese kitty, Maggie. Her mama abandoned the litter when they were 4 weeks old. I became her mama, spoon feeding wet food and kitten formula and sleeping with her, She lived to be 17 years, 9 months old. Still miss that little sweetie.

  13. We have 3 cats and a dog but my favorite of them is called Agnes. She’s a teeny chubby black cat and she has a favorite toy which we play fetch with! It’s so precious.

  14. Two beauties! Gorgeous fabrics! My folks gave me a miniture dachshund shortly after I moved out (many years ago now) and she was named Vienna. I loved her so! Since then I’ve fallen for the breed and even had a Vienna II.

    Super giveaway!

  15. I am blessed to have 2 Australian Shepherds and married into 3 cats. So all together 5 pets! That means a lot of tidying for me but they are so totally worth it. If I had to pick a favorite it would definitely by my blue merle with stunning ice blue eyes named Loki. He totally doesn’t take after his name at all he is not even mischievous but he loves me with the crazy loyal single mindedness that dog legends are made of. He is my favorite cuddle buddy. My new hobby of sewing made him a little nervous at first. He is a big fan of keeping my feet warm, and moving my feet to use the sewing machine seemed very wrong to him haha. He has gotten used to my strange fascination with fabrics and sewing machines and follows me faithfully any time i get up (even to go the iron) and back to lay at my feet and watch.

I also followed the link here from sewmamasew.com and I appreciate all the fun information and projects you all have. Thank you so much!

  16. I might start crying talking about my favorite pet(s), hard to pick between the dog & cat. Pippi was a Merle Australian shepherd, so pretty & affectionate. And Peepers was a white cat with a gold eye & a blue eye & he would put his paws on my shoulders and talk to me. And when he was in nirvana he’d have a little bubble of drool in the corner of his mouth.

  17. My puppy Philberto VonPhilenstein (Phil) is a Schnauzer/Chihuahua mix. He is overly protective of me to a fault, but I love that he is ‘my’ dog. I always have a buddy at my feet whether I’m doing dishes or sewing!

  18. Just found you on IG and so funny that you are a big wine drinker me too I’m about ready to post some sewing related wine charms for sale. My favorite animal was Purdy my cat when I was in high school I swear she could talk and I didn’t even drink back then!

  19. Right now we have a black lab that is definitely my second child. She’s the first dog I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine not having her.
