About a year ago, Aunt Ali (or Aunt “Eye-yah” as Courtney’s daughter Eva calls her) introduced Eva to “My Little Ponies,” and they quickly bonded over Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash and Nightmare Moon. Since then, the Ponies have been a constant presence in our households, so when it came time to name our newest pattern for Apple iPad and MacBook cases, the answer came to mind immediately.
If you don’t know who this is, allow us to enlighten you. She’s Applejack, the self-described “loyalest of friends and the most dependable of ponies.” Not a bad character to name your newest pattern after, even if she looks nothing at all like the My Little Pony Applejack we all had as a kid.
Our version of the Applejack is a modern, geometric case for transporting and storing your iPads and MacBooks.
It features one outer pocket, a customizable inner pocket with gusseted section for storing chargers and headphones, and a decorative strap closure.
The pattern includes templates for making four different case sizes, a small and large iPad case and a small and large MacBook case. The finished sizes are:
- Small (7.9″ display) iPad case is about 8 ½” tall, 10” wide and 1” deep
- Large (9.7″ display) iPad case is about 10” tall, 13” wide and 1” deep
- Small (13.3″ display) MacBook case is about 11” tall, 14” wide and 2” deep
- Large (15.4″ display) MacBook case is about 12” tall, 15 ½” wide and 2” deep
We sewed up all of these Applejack cases with the new Sweet Rebellion fabrics from our awesome friends at Ink & Arrow Fabrics. The fabrics are so fun and sassy that we just finished hosting an entire week celebrating them! You can find all of those posts on our blog and the fabrics are in quilt shops across the country now.
The Applejack PDF pattern has 7 pages and over 30 color photos to help you every step of the way. You can buy it via instant download in our Etsy or Craftsy shops for only $9.
Happy sewing! Or,as Applejack would say, “Well, howdy-do, sugarcube!”
