We’re so excited today to release the next pattern from our Spring 2015 collection – the Carried Away totebag!! Isn’t she stunning???
(Did you notice how we just jumped right into the release without explaining why we haven’t posted in 6 weeks again? You didn’t? Okay, good.)
As we mentioned in our last post, this collection was inspired by wind, and the fun things in life that are powered by wind – kites and sailboats. So we wanted to design the perfect boat tote, something large, versatile and durable.
And it just so happens that if you design a fabulous boat tote, it might just be so versatile that it also makes a great overnight or weekend bag. And that it might even fit into the overhead bins on an airplane.
For the durability factor, we used duck cloth canvas and outdoor fabric and it looks so professional. And we are loving how many fun colors and prints are available in outdoor fabric these days.
One of our test bags was done in solid broadcloth and shows just how fantastic the tote looks in solids too.
The outer bag features a super modern and fun V-shaped front pocket, which is perfect for dropping your keys or phone into for quick retrieval.
The interior is the most simple one we’ve designed yet. No divided pockets, zipper pockets, keychains, or any other bells and whistles. This way you could pack it to the brim with whatever suits your fancy. And the top zipper panel closure will keep all of those fancies inside.
Carried Away also has a unique design feature. The long shoulder straps are attached to the bag and then threaded through buttonholes on the outer bag and zipper panel.
The PDF pattern has 12 pages and over 75 color photos to help you every step of the way.
You can buy it via instant download in our Etsy or Craftsy shops for only $9. The finished size is about 16” tall, 31 ½” wide and 10” deep. And remember to send us images of your completed Carried Away totes because we’d love to feature them on our blog or on Instagram.
Next up is the final pattern for this collection and Carried Away’s companion messenger bag, the Stowaway. It features the same great angles and graphic qualities but in a smaller size perfect for everyday use.
And if you really miss us in the meantime, we post over at Instagram regularly, including recent sewing injuries and cease and desist letters to our seam rippers.
